Mystletainn
This is my GMTK 2020 Game Jam submission, Mystletainn. You play as a masked warrior controlling a cursed sword that attacks anything in range, and you must utilize its power to destroy all of the spirits within the haunted tower.
There are 4 levels in total.
This project is more of a concept prototype than a fully-fledged game; I ran into some unexpected difficulties along the way and things kind of went... out of control. As such, it's extremely unpolished and much shorter than I would have liked. Regardless, I hope you enjoy it!
Also, there's currently no sound for the game.
Controls:
- Arrow Keys: Walk Left/Right
- Z: Jump
- X: Reset
- Esc: Quit
Tips:
- Holding the jump button while attacking an enemy will cause you to jump off the enemy after you finish your attack.
- The large spirits can be defeated after you have slain 4 enemies. This is indicated by the flame emitted from the warrior's head.
- If you're stuck on level 2, think carefully about which order to defeat the spirits in. If you can defeat a large mask immediately after you gain the ability to slay them, you're on the right track.

I really like the idea and concept of this. Despite not being very good at it, couldn't get past the 2nd level, though I almost got it a few times and when I did, it felt pretty sleek. I hope you continue working on the idea because I think it has potential!
Thank you! I think the second level ended up being a bit needlessly confusing for its intended purpose, especially after seeing some people play it. If I had more time I would probably put a few more levels before it to better prepare the player for it.
